Model of French knights’ tournament

This exhibit presents another aspect of courtly life in 14th-century France: the tournament where knights of the French aristocracy sporting their coats of arms compete with each other armed and on horseback. In this scene as well, centre stage is given to the lord of Coucy who has invited illustrious knights to his tournament. The model achieves even more nature-like liveliness in the moving dance groups that are part of it.

Measurements: base 2m x 2m ( 6ft x 6ft ).
700 handcrafted figurines, many dressed in the heraldic colours of French aristocracy set in the authentic context of the time.
